2025 Publications
October
We are delighted to share the success of the first Neurodiverse Work Experience and Industry Immersion Program, delivered in collaboration with the Hume Whittlesea Local Learning and Employment Network (HWLLEN) and Whittlesea Tech School. This innovative pilot program was developed to provide students with meaningful, supported workplace experiences that help build confidence, employability skills, and pathways toward future careers. Our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in real-world work placements across a range of industries. Henry completed his placement at Mernda Library, Morgan joined the team at Thomastown Library, and Blake gained hands-on experience with Crusader Caravans.
August
This term in our Baking Elective, students have been learning new skills while making a range of delicious treats.
We started with classic chocolate chip cookies, focusing on accurate measuring and mixing techniques. Next came rich, fudgy brownies and cinnamon white chocolate cake, followed by buttery shortbread, which we drizzled in chocolate.Students were able to take their baked goods home to share with family, and some of the treats were also enjoyed by staff during afternoon tea. It’s been a fun and rewarding way to build kitchen confidence, with more baking still to come.
June
On Tuesday 17th June, our students had the exciting opportunity to head into the city and visit Torrens University. They were given a guided tour of the modern university campus and attended a presentation introducing them to how the university operates, what makes it unique, and the many pathways it offers. It was an inspiring session that gave our students insight into university life, flexible learning options, and the many careers and industries connected to the programs offered at Torrens.

On Tuesday the 6th of May, PRC students attended the Salvation Army headquarters to gather more information about the travails of homelessness.
To begin with, students worked in a classroom with an instructor, learning about the most common sleeping conditions for homeless people, before being split into groups and analysing the possible reasons why different types of people might become homeless.

Students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Melbourne Grand Prix at Albert Park as part of their Personal Development Skills (PDS) unit.
This excursion provided a hands-on experience to support their project on the Grand Prix, giving them valuable insights into the world of motorsport.

Our students have been reacquainting themselves with their instruments after the holidays. They have been hard at work performing songs by Green Day, Nirvana and Weezer.

PRC students trekked out to Montmorency for the RIJI Mock Interviews. These mock interviews gave students the chance to be quizzed and assessed by industry professionals, gaining experience representing themselves as a future worker

Our students recently participated in a fantastic fundraising event at the Whittlesea Market, where they showcased their creativity and hard work to support our school’s initiatives. In the weeks leading up to the event, they prepared by crafting handmade keychains,

a mouthwatering endeavour, indeed! The students showed exceptional teamwork and dedication throughout the process, and they should feel immensely proud of their contributions. Together, we successfully raised funds for cancer research, a cause close to our hearts.

Dear School Community, I can’t believe Term 3 is upon us! Time has flown by so quickly, and it has been a busy and fulfilling time for all of us. We are thrilled to welcome several new students who joined us at the start of Term 3.
