Curriculum

Plenty River College offers a two-year applied learning program through the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM), providing students with the flexibility to explore their interests while developing essential skills for further education, employment, and life. The VCE VM is designed to prepare students for a range of post-school pathways, including apprenticeships, traineeships, further education and training, university (via non-ATAR pathways), or direct entry into the workforce.

Purpose of the VCE VM at Plenty River College:

• To equip students with the skills, knowledge, values, and capabilities to become active and informed citizens, lifelong learners, and confident, creative individuals.

• To offer real-world workplace experiences that support students in making informed decisions about their future pathways. Studies in the VCE VM are aligned to Levels 2, 3, and 4 of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Plenty River College offers the following VCE VM units:

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive Foundation Certificate that can be commenced in Year 10, Year 11 and/or Year 12, and can be completed over two or more years. The VPC is designed for students who benefit from a more individualised and flexible approach in their final years of secondary schooling. For some students, the VPC is a meaningful endpoint; for others, it can be a stepping stone to further learning or training. The VPC provides a rich curriculum and strong support for students to develop the skills, knowledge, and qualities they need for success in personal, workplace, and civic life. The VPC is an accredited ‘foundation secondary qualification’ under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. While the VPC is not a senior secondary qualification, it offers a pathway to the VCE, VCE VM, or VET certificates. VPC units do not provide credit towards the VCE or VCE VM.

Plenty River College offers the following VPC units:

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Plenty River College delivers VET as a key part of our senior secondary programs. At Plenty River College, our qualifications are developed in collaboration with industry partners to ensure students gain practical, real-world experience.
